International open call for photographers
Simone Risi and Gea Vision invite emerging and established photographers of any nationality to submit their work. Five authors will receive a contract with Gea Vision to join the 2027 artist catalogue. The top three will exhibit for one month in Bologna's historic centre, among fine art prints and 50″ art screens.

The Open Call selects five distinct photographers for inclusion in the Gea Vision 2027 artist catalogue. The top three will exhibit their work for one month at Gea Vision, a gallery in Bologna's historic centre. The prize is awarded through artistic evaluation — no draws, purchasable votes, or random mechanisms.

First Prize
- —Contract with Gea Vision for inclusion in the 2027 artist catalogue.
- —One photograph exhibited for one month in the Open Call exhibition, on fine art print and the gallery's 50-inch artistic screens.
- —Presentation of the work at an event independently organised by Gea Vision to coincide with ART CITY White Night, the most important art event of the year in Bologna. Date to be confirmed.
- —Award plaque issued and certified by Gea Vision.
- —Dedicated editorial feature on Simone Risi's website: short interview, photograph and artist profile.
- —Primary position on the results page and lead image for the exhibition's communication, within the limits of the accepted licence.

The prize contract is published before the opening. Gea Vision's commercial conditions (duration, sales commissions, exclusivity, costs, termination) are stated in the contract attachment. Proposal to confirm: no mandatory additional cost to receive the prize, printing and setup covered by the organisation, travel and accommodation excluded.
Bologna's historic centre
Gea Vision
Gea Vision is the gallery hosting the Open Call exhibition for one month, with fine art prints and 50-inch artistic screens. The space is located in Bologna's historic centre, at Via Goito 7.
How to participate
Prepare
Select 1 to 5 photographs. JPEG, sRGB recommended, max 15 MB per image, long side at least 2,000 px.
Fill in
Enter your personal data. The system saves a draft with a unique ID before opening payment.
Pay
Pay €10 + VAT via PayPal. In PayPal's Photographer's Name field, enter the same first and last name used for this application.
Declare
On returning to the form, tick the payment declaration checkbox. The transaction reference is optional but useful in case of homonymy.
Upload and submit
Upload your photographs (only the title is required), review the summary, accept the declarations and submit. You will receive an ID and email confirmation.
Selection criteria, jury and calendar
Who can participate
- —Adults, professionals and emerging photographers.
- —Open theme, contemporary photography, all genres.
- —One application per person, 1 to 5 photographs.
- —Analogue or digital photography.
- —Participation is subject to applicable regulations and the ability to make payment through one of the available methods.
Evaluation grid
The best admissible work determines the author's score. The average of non-conflicting jurors determines the ranking. Tiebreak: authorial vision, then expressive power, then motivated deliberation. No public vote. AI is not used to classify or assign prizes.
Jury
The jury consists of Simone Risi and Gea Vision representatives. Members will be confirmed before the opening.
